Emcee's Heath and Silhouette met while living in the East Bay but randomly stumbled back in to one another through DJ Blaqson once both artists relocated to California's Central Valley. In 2012 Silhouette moved from Modesto to Stockton and decided to hone in on work with CalMarVA's affiliate member Heath.

The project order was arranged in a manner that reflects the recording environments at the time. This was done in order to avoid obtaining a professional mixdown yet to preserve sound continuity. As equipment was upgraded the sound quality and texture of the project changes.

Too Late was recorded in early 2008 in DJ Blaqson's first CalMarVA studio setup in Modesto, CA.

Chinese Eyes was recorded in the second CalMarVA studio setup of DJ Blaqson in Modesto, CA

Why Do It and What Happened to Inspiration was recorded in early 2012 at EarTriX CalMarVA studio in Riverbank, CA

The rest of the tracks were recorded by EarTriX in the Stockton, CA CalMarVA studio setup between December 2012 and the final track being completed in July 2014.

CalMarVA consists of VA native Silhouette, the group's emcee and Maryland native DJ Blaqson.

The first two projects - "The Merger" and "Cali Musk" were pure works of the east coast transplant duo while living in the Modesto, CA area.

CalMarVA is also the umbrella for Stockton, CA group Figueroa with their self named album after the street where the members recorded most of their material. ... more
